For more than 15 years, Gillian has researched and taught about how institutions respond to sexual and domestic violence. A former university professor and award-winning teacher and mentor, she has dedicated her career to understanding what survivors encounter when they turn to systems for help — and how those systems can respond better.

Gillian founded The Survivor Standard to help turn her knowledge into meaningful change — bringing research, practice, and survivor-centered thinking together to create a legal system that responds to survivors with greater humanity, dignity, and care.
